Teaching Art...
Ive been teaching for over 15 years and I cater my instruction to each individual student's needs and interests. Covering a variety of subjects, from cityscapes and animals, to portraiture and still-life, I include a variety of hands on drawing/painting specifics, such as, conveying form and lighting, and drawing to scale with perspective, to simple sketch booking and color use. My background instruction was representational in nature with a focus on illustration. I can offer instruction using many different types of media, both wet and dry. Whether you're looking to sharpen your current artistic skill set, ready to try something new, or perhaps you're building a new portfolio... I'm happy to help you navigate along this creative journey.
Through Portland State University, I helped develop, and taught, a study abroad course in Barcelona, Spain entitled, Sketching BCN. I've taught small groups, 2 - 3 person groups, and individuals. I generally teach out of my studio here in inner NE Portland, but class depending, we often work on location.
My rate is $60/hour and I teach a minimum of two hours per class... one hour just doesn't provide enough time.
I get to draw and paint most everyday with the ability to continue learning as I go. I get to meet new people, and clientelle, and help bring their ideas to life. I get to be my own boss and navigate the industry on my terms. And most importantly, I get to pass along my experiences and what I know through teaching and practicing art.
